Back at the Hammersmith Apollo following last year's success, Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People sees a fine line-up of intellectuals, musicians and comedians on a mission to take the Christ out of Christmas. Host of TV's Mock The Week, Dara O'Briain, and The Pub Landlord himself, Al Murray, star as special guests joining the likes of Richard Dawkins, Barry Cryer and Ronnie Golde on stage for a night of science, satire and silliness. Robin Ince comperes, introducing stand-ups like Simon Singh, Richard Herring and Chris Addison with music by orchestral cabaret-pop band Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra. In many ways, it's a tribute to the Church of England's genial tolerance that this tongue-in-cheeky event can take place with so little complaint, but it should offer great entertainment for atheists who've reached the seasonal saturation point. This extra date at Hammersmith Apollo has been added as all the shows at the Bloomsbury Theatre (15th-19th December) have already sold out.About Hammersmith Apollo
Once London's largest all-seater venue, the Hammersmith Apollo has a 3,600 capacity for seated shows and a 5,000 capacity for standing-room-only gigs. It was renovated in 2002, and now works well as a venue for theatre (hosting a huge variety of shows from Riverdance to Thomas the Tank Engine) as well as rock concerts. More about Hammersmith Apollo
