No Soul For Sale: A Festival of IndependentsThe former-power-station-turned-influential-art-gallery, Tate Modern, celebrates its 10th birthday with No Soul for Sale: A Festival of Independents, inviting 50 independent art spaces and collectives to take a spot in the imposing Turbine Hall to create a unique project. The landmark birthday will be celebrated over the weekend of 14th to 16th May with the exhibition curated by visionary curators Maurizio Cattelan, Cecilia Alemani and Massimiliano Gioni with three days of cutting-edge art events, cool performances, music and film predicted. But there will also be a birthday procession from Borough Market to Tate Modern with birthday cakes inspired by the building as well as special late night events with guest hosts keeping the celebrations going until midnight on the Friday and Saturday nights. Confirmed participants in the 'pop-up' village of artists include ArtHub (Shanghai), Artists Space (New York), e-flux (Berlin), no.w.here (London), and Y3K (Melbourne). Barcelona-based duo Latitudes are set to collaborate with Spanish artist Marti Anson, setting up a taxi firm to drive the pair from Barcelona to London and back, designing the vehicle, chauffeur's uniform and route. All participants will host a live event of their choice on the dedicated performance space on the Turbine Hall bridge, ranging from talks and screenings to performances.
