Nordic MattersIn 2017, the Southbank Centre will dedicate an entire year to the arts and culture of one region of the world for the first time. Nordic Matters invites audiences to immerse themselves in all things Nordic, from favourites such as Moomin, LEGO, saunas and cinnamon buns to inspiring Nordic art, mythology, literature and music. The programme of events explores the region's reputation as world-leaders in their approach to play, children, gender equality and sustainability and asks what the UK could learn from them. Launching in January, the year-long event includes the first major UK exhibition dedicated to The Moomins, a debut from Finnish heavy metal band Hevisaurus, the first UK edition of music festival Nordic Music Days, a sauna with a twist and a Learning through Play workshop with LEGO.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
