Oh What A Lovely WarOh What A Lovely War, Joan Littlewood's satirical musical about World War I which premiered at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 19th March 1963, coincides with the 100th Anniversary of World War I on its 2014 revival. Although written 50 years ago the musical, which is packed with familiar songs from the first world war era - including 'It's a Long Way to Tipperary', 'Pack up Your Troubles' and 'Keep the Home Fires Burning' - the production, under Terry Johnson's direction, remains relevant today.

Theatre Royal Stratford East opened in 1884 and became the home of the Theatre Workshop Company in 1954. The first performance ever held here was 'Richelieu' by Lytton Strachey.
