This is the 81st season for The Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and seeing a play here is really an essential part of spending summer in London. After last year's showing of only two productions, this season will revert to its usual arrangement of a sombre opening, large scale musical production and a kids' adaptation of Shakespeare. It all kicks off on 16th May with Harper Lee's American classic 'To Kill a Mockingbird', adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel and directed by Timothy Sheader. Following this on the 20th June, Jane Austen's ultimate romantic comedy 'Pride and Prejudice' will play and, continuing the programme of Shakespeare productions especially for younger audiences, 'The Winter's Tale re-imagined for everyone aged six and over' will run from 29th June. The finale of the season will be 'The Sound of Music' - an open air theatre debut for the musical-writing partnership of Richards Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II and will run from 25th July to 7th September.
