Bernard Haitink replaces Italian conductor Claudio Abbado for the Orchestra Mozart's UK debut concert. Since its debut in Bologna in 2004, the orchestra has worked with some of the world's top soloists so this Royal Festival Hall concert should be something special. Soloist Maria Joao Pires joins the orchestra to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2, replacing the original billing of Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich. There has also been a change of programme: the originally advertised Haydn Symphony No.104 (London) and Mozart Piano Concerto No.9 in E flat, K.271 have been replaced by Beethoven Overture Leonore No.2 and Piano Concerto No.2.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
