German filmmaker Oskar Fischinger pioneered abstract musical animations and created dynamic new possibilities for cinema. With one of his more notable projects being his work on Walt Disney's 'Fantasia', Fischinger used experimental techniques in an attempt to push aside narrative and instead focus on the scale, motion, rhythm and colour of cinema. Reconstructing his performances from around 1926, this installation at Tate Modern sees the films transferred to HD and digitally restored with added colour.
