And the verdict - really rather good, they say with a hint of surprise and maybe even disappointment. The fact is that Henry's honest Moor works with Barrie Rutter's typically Northern Broadsides production of Othello, arriving at the Trafalgar Studios following a regional tour. It's "brisk, forceful, clear, noisy" (The Guardian); an Othello that goes for the heart and doesn't miss. Because Henry might rush over a few lines but he embraces the torrid tragedy of Othello's fall from grace; the confusion, the rage and the agony are all plain to see so that "you believe in Henry's destruction" (The Times) at the hands of Conrad Nelson's Iago, who is unendingly full of hate, Jessica Harris's sweet Desdemona, Othello's wife who Iago ruthlessly slanders, is "so tiny, young, naive and vulnerable" (The Daily Telegraph) that it is even more crushing when Othello believes her to be guilty.
