Oxford Street Traffic Free DayThe whole of London can often feel like one big traffic jam and Oxford Street is subject to both road traffic and a major flow of pedestrians. Traffic Free Day therefore offers a welcomed break from this; despite its name this event has now been spread across a whole weekend and visitors will be able to step away from the single file as vehicles are temporarily banned from one of the busiest roads in London. As well as this, there will be special prizes, games, live music and free entertainment for children. Major department stores will be joining in on the festive fun as they offer a number of promotions and discounts. Not to be left out, Regent Street will also be getting in on the act as the shops put on VIP day; i.e. Very Important Pedestrian Day.

About Oxford Street

With over 200 million visitors a year, more than 300 shops and 5 million square feet of retail space, Oxford Street lays claim to being London's busiest street. The opening of Debenhams and Selfridges in 1909 marked the beginning of the street's dominance as a shopping centre. More about Oxford Street
