No, this isn't one of Blur's most famous songs put on a three-month loop beside the capital's busiest shopping street. Instead, Parklife is central London's newest (and largest) open air skating venue, catering for 400 skaters an hour under the magically festive glow of Oxford Street Christmas Lights (from 3rd November, ridiculously). Located on the south side between Bond Street and Marble Arch tube stations (a mince pie's throw from Primark and Selfridges) this 1,200-square-metre rink is an ideal distraction from the habitual dourness of Christmas shopping and certainly big enough for all your Lutzes and Flutzes. Nearby stalls offer hot food and drinks, there are viewing platforms for non-skating voyeurs and special sessions for wheelchair users while the visually impaired can take part in any session (with their carer going for free).www.parklifeoxfordstreet.com

About Parklife
Parklife Oxford Street is a huge 4,000-square-metre rectangular blank canvas event space on arguably the most famous street in the world. It's only open a year (presumably until new offices and retail space is build on top of the recently cleared area), is home to London's newest ice skating venue in the winter of 2009/10 and has nothing to do with that famous hit by Blur.
