The London Design Museum celebrates four decades of design by one of Britain's best known talents, Sir Paul Smith, a man knighted in the 2001 Birthday Honours List for services to the fashion industry. The show will include classics from his 40 years of collections and reveal something of the personality of the designer known for "Englishness combined with an unexpected twist" (GQ Magazine). But, says the Telegraph, rather than a straightforward run-through of his greatest fashion hits, the show will "explore a year in the different stages of design, production and marketing" behind the designer's catwalk collections. Not only that, the individual design of his shops - now in sixty-six countries across the world - will also be highlighted, all of which goes to show how far Sir Paul Smith has come since setting up his first shop in Nottingham in 1970.

Located on the banks of the Thames, the Design Museum has two floors and showcases contemporary design in all forms, including fashion, graphic and architectural.
