Paul Weller & Palma VioletsLongstanding Teenage Cancer Trust supporter Paul Weller headlines the seventh and final night of the 2013 series at the Royal Albert Hall. Known as 'The Modfather' owing to his leading role in the mod revival of the '70s and '80s, Weller has established himself as one of British music's most successful solo artists since his days as frontman of The Jam and The Style Council. Last year's eleventh album, Sonik Kicks, reached number one on the UK chart and even saw the "most non-negotiably English of musical icons dabbling in krautrock". The result, adds NME, "is the sound of Paul Weller growing old the only way he could - not particularly gracefully, but with no small amount of style." When asked by curator Noel Gallagher to headline the final night of the series, "I didn't hesitate," said Weller. Support on the night will come from the hotly-tipped London four-piece Palma Violets, known for their raucous live shows.

About Royal Albert Hall

Classical music, rock, pop and jazz, sporting events, galas, banquets and balls and the world-famous Proms series all take place within the Royal Albert Hall's iconic oval walls. One of London's most versatile venues, it is a favourite of performers from Jose Carreras to Kylie Minogue. More about Royal Albert Hall
