THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 30TH NOVEMBER 2012
Nearby

Over 200 exhibitions in more than 60 galleries come under the umbrella of Photomonth, which despite appearances is actually a two-month photography festival in the East End of London. Into its 12th year now, Photomonth prides itself on exhibiting work by both established and emerging photographers in new and challenging ways, with everything from major exhibitions to photo tours by acclaimed photographers. Highlights include the Photofair on Saturday 6th October 2012 in Old Spitalfields Market, the Photolounge at the Old Truman Brewery, the Photomonth Lecture at the Whitechapel Gallery and the Photo-Open at the Rich Mix. Throughout the participating galleries in the East End, inventive, thought-provoking, strange and dazzling images will confront visitors, opening up ideas, issues, possibilities, showing what a profound and mysterious thing a photograph can be. With additional events, including a whole series of photowalks, talks, workshops, seminars and exhibitions, there's plenty to absorb and admire. For full details visit www.photomonth.org.
About Whitechapel Gallery
Designed in a distinctive Arts and Crafts architecture style by Charles Harrison Townsend, the Whitechapel, Britain's first purpose-built arts gallery, is renowned both for the beauty of its light, airy space and for embracing the local community in its work. Founded in 1901, extensive refurbishment saw the gallery, reopened in April 2009, double in size. More about Whitechapel Gallery
