Poster Art 150: London Underground's Greatest Designs
Nearby

The London Underground is not only famous for its ingenious concept and operation but also the artwork that features on the tunnel walls. Since its first graphic poster commission in 1908, the London Underground has commissioned countless outstanding poster designs and has become a pioneering patron of poster art. Poster Art 150 will exhibit 150 of the best designs - chosen by an independent panel - that have been displayed over the years. Well-known pieces such as Man Ray's 'Keeps London Going' pair will feature alongside lesser-known works. Visitors will be asked to vote for their favourite poster and the most popular one will be revealed at the end of the exhibition.
About London Transport Museum
After a two-year, £22 million refurbishment the London Transport Museum reopened on 22 November 2007 revealing more exhibition space than before. The museum travels back through the 200-year history of public transport, arranged according to several themes: London Transport's famous design heritage, the poster collection, public transport during both World Wars and plans for the capital's development in the twenty-first century.
