Prom 51: London Symphony OrchestraDaniel Harding conducts the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in the Prom which was due to be given by Sir Colin Davis on Tuesday 20th August but will instead be dedicated to the inspirational conductor who appeared in more than 140 Proms. Harding, who has been principal guest conductor with the LSO since 2006, will also conduct a Prom with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on 30th July, where he holds the lifetime post of Conductor Laureate. The programme for Prom 51 now includes Elgar's Symphony No. 2 which replaces Sibelius's Symphony No. 2. Otherwise the programme, which features Tippett's The Mask Of Time - Fanfare No. 5 and Concerto For Double String Orchestra, and Britten's Les Illuminations and Elgar's Symphony No. 2 In E Flat, remains unchanged. World-renowned tenor Ian Bostridge sings.
