Queer City: London Club Culture 1918-1967The National Trust and The National Archives revive 'London's most bohemian rendezvous', The Caravan, this March. A queer-friendly members club of 1934, a time when being openly gay would frequently lead to prosecution and imprisonment, The Caravan was viewed by some as a place offering friendship and fun and by others a place that warranted regular surveillance and a raid, which led to more that 100 arrests. Queer City: London Club Culture 1918-1967 will take place atFreud, where The Caravan used to be, and allow ticket holders to experience being a member for one night only, with photographs, court reports, police papers and witness statements used to recreate the bohemian interior of the underground club. There will also be themed talks, debates, performances and tours, with Lili La Scala, Dusty Limits and Tricity Vogue all on the line-up.

About Freud

Open since the '80s, this industrial underground venue is still as popular as it ever was, for those who know how to find it that is. Open as a cafe during the day and a cocktail bar in the evening, Freud has a large selection of affordable drinks, rotating artwork on its walls and a hip crowd. More about Freud
