Raindance Film FestivalThe Raindance Film Festival, described by The Guardian as "the indie-est film festival this side of the Atlantic", is the UK's largest independent films festival and it's been going for over 20 years. The festival, which also played a role in founding the British Independent Films Awards in 1998, mixes famous names and rising stars appearing in films made with small budgets. This year's line-up includes the world premiere of Soho Cigarette (30th September), a low-budget black and white film set entirely in London's Soho. Directed by Jon Fairbairn, the film follows Italian lothario D who, after being kicked out by his girlfriend, spends all his money on a classic old Mercedes but soon learns that it has a dark owner history. Further screenings include DirtyMoney, Leo Roberts as he is seduced and corrupted by the criminal rewards of London's high-class underground sex industry; One For Ten, a series of documentaries which focus on individuals who were innocent and on death row; and The Vessel, a British webseries about being a surrogate for gay best friends. All films are screened at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus.
