Richard Hamilton: The Late Works is retrospective of major paintings by the artist, including his unfinished work based on Honore de Balzac's short story, Le Chef-d'oeuvre inconnu, which he intended to showcase at the National Gallery. A little more than a year on from his death, the exhibition finally comes into fruition with a selection of never-seen-before masterpieces featuring computer generated images overworked with paint. The influential British artist always held close ties to the National Gallery and this display marks the first substantial exhibition since his passing.

About National Gallery

The National Gallery dominates London's Trafalgar Square with its neo-classical columns and portico designed by William Wilkins adjoining the square on its east side where it has been pedestrianised. Some of the finest examples of European art, ranging from 1260 to 1900, are included among the 2,300 paintings filling its halls and rooms. More about National Gallery
