Eddie Redmayne features as the Plantagenet warmongering king, in Michael Grandage's production of Shakespeare's historical drama. King Richard II banishes his noblemen and seizes their land to fuel his own wars. As anger mounts from all opposing sides, a battle for the soul of England begins and one man's divine right to rule is called into question. This Shakespeare masterpiece is an epic tale of destruction and ruin that casts light on the decline of a kingdom and the solitude of power.

 

About The Donmar Warehouse

Housed in an impressive red-brick industrial building - at various times a brewery, a banana warehouse and a film studio - this tiny repertory theatre is one of the great success stories of the 1990s. Created as a studio space for the RSC in 1977, it became a shabby but popular fringe theatre in the 1980s, a testing ground for producers with big ideas but little money.
