Richmond Literature FestivalThe Richmond Literature Festival returns to the west London borough this November for its 23rd year. The festival will run again in November 2014 although details have yet to be announced. A look at the highlights from last year's programme give an idea of the heavy hitters the festival attracts: it included appearances from Max Hastings, and Charles Moore author of the authorized Margaret Thatcher biography. Novelist and journalist Daisy Waugh and the BBC's Antiques Roadshow's Marc Allum also took part in addition to events on artist Eric Ravilious, Nijinksy, cocktails, gardening, beer, poetry and spoken word. They also held workshops, author events and a literary tea party as part of their programme for children and families who got the chance to meet acclaimed author and illustrator of the Alfie series, Shirley Hughes and her daughter Clara Vullimay. Events take place across the borough at various venues including Marble Hill House, Richmond Theatre, and Strawberry Hill House.

About Richmond Theatre

The Victorian Richmond Theatre, which opened on 18 September 1899 with a performance of As You Like It, is one of the best examples of work by theatrical architect Frank Matcham. The interior is ornate, with lots of gilt detailing and plush fabrics. More about Richmond Theatre
