Richmond Literature FestivalThe Richmond Literature Festival returns to the west London borough this November for its 23rd year. Highlights from this year's main programme include appearances from actress Sheila Hancock, journalist Peter Snow, Dr Irving Finkel and British designer Emma Bridgewater. Local author Jacqueline Wilson appears as part of the children and young people's programme which includes a session with Jim Smith, creator of the Barry Loser series, at the Orange Tree Theatre, a creative writing workshop run by Mary Evans, author of Who Let the Gods Out?, at the Orleans House Gallery where a free family workshop on the animals that participated in the First World War is being held. Further leading literary figures taking part are Kate Adie, Paddy Ashdown, and Tracy Borman and there are talks on Richmond's Open Spaces, and Unseen London hosted by photographer Peter Dazeley. Events take place at various venues across the borough including the National Archives at Kew, Marble Hill House, Richmond Theatre, and Strawberry Hill House.

About Richmond Theatre

The Victorian Richmond Theatre, which opened on 18 September 1899 with a performance of As You Like It, is one of the best examples of work by theatrical architect Frank Matcham. The interior is ornate, with lots of gilt detailing and plush fabrics. More about Richmond Theatre
