Roman DeadNew exhibition Roman Dead at the Museum of London Docklands will showcase a rare Roman sarcophagus. Excavated in 2017 from Harper Road in Southwark, the rare find will be on display for the first time in this major new exhibition. The event will investigate the Roman cemeteries of London, showing how historical findings can provide an insight into Romans' religious beliefs and their treatment of the dead. Among the 200 objects on display, there will we exotic grave goods from across the Roman Empire, including an expensive multi-coloured glass dish found with cremated remains and a jet pendant in the form of Medusa?s head.

About Museum of London Docklands

In keeping with its waterside location, the Museum of London Docklands focuses on the history of the East End with particular emphasis on the River Thames and the lives that have ebbed and flowed with it. The building in which the museum is housed is pertinent, too. More about Museum of London Docklands
