Rosemarie Trockel: A Cosmos

"An elegant, mind-expanding refusal of the standard big-game retrospective," is how The New York Times described Rosemarie Trockel: A Cosmos when it appeared in the city's New Musuem in October 2012. From 13th February 2013, London's Serpentine Gallery hosts the exhibition, juxtaposing works created in the last 30 years by this mid-career German artist with a range of objects and artworks created by others with whom she feels an affinity. Knitted paintings, often considered her signature style, are displayed along with ceramics and zoological specimens as well as artefacts by fellow artists including outsider artists like Morton Bartlett, James Castle and Judith Scott.
