| An intricate plot mixes the Bosnian war crime trials with an artist's attempts to create a soundscape for the Charles Bridge, in Lightwork's new production at the Lyric Studio. Layering sound and video on top of conventional performance, the play drifts through Europe's most beautiful and tragic corners, employing verbatim testimony from war crimes tribunals, and personal history from the shattered Yugoslavia. Lightwork are an artist led group, and this is unlikely to offer much by way of conventional drama, instead offering an exploration of Europe's ancient wounds and current values. |
