London's best tropical rave continues as Secousse returns to the Notting Hill Arts Club for its latest jungle run-around this July. The brainchild of Radioclit, a Franco-Swedish duo who specialise in pan-African dance music, Secousse literally means "earthquake" or "shake" - an apt moniker for a night which implores revellers to get down and dirty on the dancefloor. The whole point is to clash together different musical genres across various continental and social divides, so expect Ivorian coupé decalé rhythms alongside sizzling Syrian beats, Brazilian rockabilly records and Leganese ghetto funk. This time round there's a live set from African guitar pop outfit Galleons Reach while Secousse resident A.J.Holmes brings along his house band The Hackney Empire. On the decks there's some Afro-House bangers from Certified Sickness and the usual tribal tremors from Radioclit, Vamanos and the Secousse Sound System. Described more as a meeting point and a record exchange than a bona-fide club night, Secousse continues to gather pace as it rampages over the musical tropics.
