THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 20TH APRIL 2013
With a similar format to the RCA's secret postcard sale, Secret 7" sees artists such as Gilbert & George, Al Weiwei and David Shrigley, plus hundreds of others create artworks that are put up for a secret sale. However, instead of postcards the artists will redesign covers of seven different singles from well-known bands. This year's seven singles are Elton John, Bennie and The Jets; Haim, Better Off; Jessie Ware, Still Love Me; Nas, The Don; Nick Drake, Rider on the Wheel; Laura Marling, The Beast; and Public Enemy, Harder Than You Think. The 700 record sleeves will go on display the weekend before sale day (April 20th) but will be on display from the weekend prior to this. The 'secret' aspect is that you won't know what sleeve or song you are being sold until after the purchase. The profits go towards Art Against Knives, a youth charity which helps fund creative initiatives around London.
