The Seduced by Art: Photography Past and Present exhibition brings together early and contemporary photography and discusses how the influences of the early pieces are reflected in the more recent images. Leading photographers Tom Hunter, Thomas Struth, Craigie Horsfield, Sam Taylor-Wood and Beate Gütschow will have work displayed - all of these photographers trace their sources back to the 19th century or maybe even older historical art traditions. The exhibition will also map the development of photography from the 19th century onwards, representing the progression in subjects such as still life, landscape and social portraiture.

About National Gallery

The National Gallery dominates London's Trafalgar Square with its neo-classical columns and portico designed by William Wilkins adjoining the square on its east side where it has been pedestrianised. Some of the finest examples of European art, ranging from 1260 to 1900, are included among the 2,300 paintings filling its halls and rooms. More about National Gallery
