With everyone currently falling in love with the film the Artist silent films are more relevant than ever thus creating the perfect timing for the Silent Film and Live Music Series at the Barbican. With a screening every Sunday of the month many pieces will be brought back to life on the big screen including loveable classics, recent discoveries, improvised accompaniments and the chance to see rare masterpieces. January's screening will be Charley Chase ? Crazy Like a Fox (1926) with live piano accompaniment by John Sweeney and a Charley Chase Biography. With Charley Chase sitting proudly in our memories alongside many comedy greats including Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, he is the definition of a comedian in silent form. Further Chase movies to be showcased in the series include Wooden Wedding (1925) and Mighty like a Moose (1926). February's revival will be An Italian Straw Hat with musical accompaniment by Andrew Youdell.

While the Barbican Screen is hardly one of London's plushest cinemas (it's housed in the bowels of the Barbican Centre building), it's well worth a visit for its mix of quirky, independent films as well as the latest releases.
