Silke Otto-KnappFor this solo exhibition German artist Silke Otto-Knapp challenges the tradition of romantic landscape painting through the constraints of stage design, questioning the decorative surface, spatial depth and pictorial construction. Otto-Knapp has become known for her paintings of landscapes and figures, for which she tends to depict in a romantic and fantastical fashion. However, her latest works take a slight departure from this. Still focusing on similar subjects, she has begun to produce paintings that are rendered almost entirely in black and silver, producing a monochrome effect that pays particular attention to lighting. As well as the paintings, this exhibition will also feature collages and etchings created during her residency at The Banff Centre in Canada.

About Camden Arts Centre

The Camden Arts Centre has become a prime location for top class arts exhibitions thanks to a radical renovation in 2007. The design, by Tony Fretton Architects, created a modern, light and spacious venue while retaining many original features such as the entrance arches, terrazzo flooring and tall, stone dressed windows.
