THIS ARCHIVED EVENT ENDED ON THE 20TH NOVEMBER 2009

The Prince Charles Cinema is a fine institution, an irreverent, cheap cinema screening worthy movies and slasher pics in the heart of the West End, an area otherwise dominated by multiplex dross. One of their camper, more retro ideas is to hold screenings of classic movies where the audience - instead of being told to "shhhhhh" - are positively encouraged to get involved. Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music with Julie Andrews and co is the best of the bunch. You can boo the Nazis, cheer the action and there are subtitles for all the songs so you can do what it says on the tin and sing-a-long-a. There's even a pre-show vocal warm-up so that when the real Do-Re-Mi comes round, you'll be in fine voice! These screenings have been a massive success in the past, so book early as word - or song - is spreading. Sitting in a cinema full of shouting, laughing people - some of whom dress up a la Sound of Music characters - would be some people's worst nightmare but for musical-lovers or insanely happy people, this is hilarious, uplifting fun.
