Southbank Sinfonia: Rush Hour ConcertsBypass the rush-hour traffic, sit back with a glass of wine and listen to some of classical music's most talented and promising stars of tomorrow with the Southbank Sinfonia's free concert programme this March. The Southbank Sinfonia is a groundbreaking initiative which offers intensive learning and performance experience to the most outstanding graduates of UK music colleges in the form of a one-year professional orchestral apprenticeship. Held in St John's Waterloo, these weekly Thursday evening Rush Hour Concerts work two ways, providing the public with a post-work spectacle infinitely better than a sweaty packed train, and giving young musicians a springboard into the profession.  So, avoid the rush, enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and experience Britain's brightest stars in a wonderful setting. About St John's Church, Waterloo

The church of St John's was built in 1824 to celebrate victory in the Napoleonic wars. In 1940, the church was firebombed, destroying much of the interior. A restored St John's Waterloo reopened in 1951 to serve as the parish church of the Festival of Britain and further restoration work has been done since. More about St John's Church, Waterloo
