A short and pretty walk downstream from Tower Hill, St Katharine Docks hosts its annual Christmas Market Day on Friday 16 December. Usually home to the excellent weekly Good Food Market on Fridays, the St Katharine Docks Christmas Market will also boast a range of gift and craft stalls as well as its usual array of food stalls set out right by the water in Marble Quay Courtyard, outside the pretty Dickens Inn. There'll be all the festive favourites, such as mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, as well as a range of Christmas meats and cheeses plus all the traditional English and International Christmas foods to cater for your every needs. Throw in the delicious aroma of a hog roast, and a charity raffle to win a luxury Partridges Hamper, and this should be quite an event. If you haven't been to St Katharine Docks before, it's a must: combining Victorian heritage and sleek modern office blocks, apartments, shops and restaurants, it's a great spot for a walk, all set out around a fully functioning waterway that continues to attract maritime visitors in the shape of yachts and barges.
About St Katharine Docks
It was the great engineer Thomas Telford who oversaw the building work of St Katharine Docks which began in 1827. In its heyday, as a major transport hub, the docks saw the import and storage of exotic and valuable goods including ivory and marble. More about St Katharine Docks
