Hosting his first solo exhibition in the country for three years, Stuart Semple showcases 10-12 new paintings and mixed media works at hip new London gallery Morton Metropolis. Described by Adam Ganderson as "The offspring of Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons, as styled for MTV", Semple is fast making a name for himself as one to watch - his 2007 'Fake Plastic Love' exhibition at the Truman Brewery attracted more than 10,000 visitors and reached the $1 million sales mark in the first five minutes. Never one to shy away from political commentary, this latest exhibition - well timed, in the run-up to a general election - gives him a platform to express his concerns about the current cultural climate. His latest series is the antithesis of a monotonous middle-ground sensibility and instead confronts the viewer with a colour-fuelled, provocative style, with his social and political messages woven into each work.About Morton Metropolis
Contemporary art specialist Serena Morton and music manager/promoter Raye Cosbert are the combined forces behind the achingly hip Berners Street art gallery, Morton Metropolis. Serena's background was in the fashion, music and television industries before she moved into the art world, joining Christie's in the nineties where she worked in 20th Century and Contemporary British Art.
