Sustainable Food Weekend: Disco SoupBop while you chop as Mercato Metropolitano, the indoor/outdoor market in south London, hosts the first Sustainable Food Weekend from 15th to 17th September and calls on DJs from next door neighbours Ministry of Sound for Disco Soup. Joining a global movement that celebrates solutions to food waste, this disco will feature 1,000 people chopping to the beat. A huge tomato and pepper soup - made from unwanted veg - will be served, free of charge, as diners dance under a disco glitter ball. Other Sustainable Food Weekend highlights include free cooking classes covering pizza, pasta and gelato, workshops on composting and urban farming as well as screenings of documentaries on honeybee colonies and climate change.

About Mercato Metropolitano

At 45,000 square foot, new Italian market Mercato Metropolitano has no shortage of artisanal talent. Housed in a disused paper factory, it brings together bakers, fishmongers, charcuterie specialists, coffee roasters, brewers, pizza chefs and more to showcase their wares, serving up dishes from individual stalls.
