Tamzin Outhwaite stars as the unlucky-in-love taxi dancer Charity Hope Valentine in this revival of Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Sweet Charity which transfers to the West End after a hugely successful run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. A taxi dancer gets her name from the idea of hailing a cab, except the men - in this case at the Fandango Ballroom in New York - flag down a dancing partner and take her for a spin instead. But poor ol' Charity always ends up in a twirl and a tizz with the wrong kinda guy - puffed up lowlife Charlie, deceiving film star Vittorio Vidal - but shy, chivalrous Oscar seems promising. With big, flamboyant numbers coming thick and fast - including Hey, Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and The Rhythm of Life - there's plenty for musical fans to enjoy. After the phenomenal success of this show at the Chocolate Factory it's good to see Sweet Charity return for this extended run at the Haymarket Theatre Royal.

The Haymarket Theatre was built by John Potter on the site of the King's Head Inn and the Gun Smith shop in 1702. It has had a colourful history, complete with riots, death by stampedes, falling chandeliers and censorship - as well as plenty of smash hits. More about Haymarket Theatre Royal
