Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait PrizeJessica Fulford-Dobson, Birgit Puve, Blerim Racaj, and David Titlow are the four photographers shorlisted for the 2014 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize. Their works have been picked from the 4,193 submissions entered by 1,793 photographers from which 60 portraits have been chosen for the exhibition, running at the National Portrait Gallery for close to twenty years. Jessica Fulford-Dobson's image of a seven year-old Afghan skate girl; identical twin boys kneeling next to their great grandmothers hen in the Estonian countryside, by Birgit Puve; a group of young Kosovars, by Blerin Racaj; and the photographer's baby son being introduced to a dog, by David Titlow, are this year's prize-winning photographs. Visitors can see the winning and shortlisted portraits until February 2015 and the winner is announced at an awards ceremony just before the exhibition opens, on Tuesday 11th November 2014 at 7pm.

About National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery houses portraits of significant figures from the late 15th century to the present day. This isn't the place to come for serious works of exceptional artistic merit - the overriding aim of the National Portrait Gallery is to reflect the status of the sitter, not the artist - but where else in London could you hope to find The Beatles, Henry VIII, Sir Richard Branson and JK Rowling all hanging out together? The appeal of this gallery (opened in 1856) rests simply in its comprehensive commemoration of British history from the late 15th century to the present day through the medium of portraiture.
