Following her Oscar-winning performance in the 2006 film The Queen, Helen Mirren reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth II with another award-winning performance in Peter Morgan's play The Audience. Winner of the Best Actress Olivier Award 2013, Mirren's accolade is one of two for the play with Richard McCabe winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his part as Harold Wilson. For the past sixty years private meetings have taken place between The Queen and each of her Prime Ministers. With an unspoken rule of utmost privacy, they provide a time for confession, advice and consoling - sometimes resulting in heated discussions and maybe even some teasing. The contract of this silence is broken for the world premiere of this drama as the content, tone and The Queen's thoughts are to be imagined in a series of pivotal meetings - ranging from Churchill to Cameron. Book tickets today to see Helen Mirren as 'The Queen'.
About Gielgud Theatre
From the outside, the Gielgud Theatre is an impressive sight, towering four storeys over Shaftesbury Avenue, its height further emphasized by the turret on top. The interior is also magnificent, with richly-decorated pillars supporting the boxes and lavish Baroque ornamentation. Built in 1906 and known as the Globe Theatre for most of the 20th century, it was renamed after the great actor Sir John Gielgud in 1994. More about Gielgud Theatre
