The Cheapside Hoard: London's Lost Jewels In this major exhibition the Museum of London will use new research and state-of-the-art technology to showcase the insights that the Cheapside Hoard offers on Elizabethan and Jacobean London. Discovered in 1912, this extraordinary collection of 16th and early 17th century jewels and gemstones had been buried in a cellar on Cheapside, London. Now, displaying the collection in its entirety for the first time in over a century, the museum will explore the mysteries behind the jewels that were lost among the cataclysmic events of the mid-17th century: who did the Hoard belong to, when and why was it hidden and why didn't anyone ever reclaim it?
