A rare opportunity to delve into the archives of the (V & A), The Concise Dictionary of Dress gives visitors an hour-long guided walk through Blythe House, the building that houses the museum's collection of objects in storage. You'll go into rooms that are usually out of bounds to the public to see a series of displays curated by Judith Clark, with text by psychoanalyst Adam Phillips, including a selection of images, objects and accessories, exploring the history and psychology of the dress. Cast objects and photographs, tableaux of clothing and accessories are arranged in the cavernous space of Blythe House - previously the HQ of the Post Office Savings Bank in Olympia. The exhibition, commissioned by Artangel, is accompanied by a series of events in the Fashion Galleries and throughout the Victoria and Albert (V & A) Museum including a Friday Late costume party on Friday 28th May (6.30pm-11pm) when you're invited to dress up, taking the exhibition as your inspiration. Blythe House is where the V & A's collection of objects in storage are housed including furniture, ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, fashion and fine arts. Previously the headquarters of the Post Office Savings Bank in Olympia the cavernous space is now home to musuem quality archive material, all of which can be viewed, by appointment only, in the Blythe House Reading Room.
