THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 1ST FEBRUARY 2014
Italian theatre group Cittą di Ebla presents its contemporary take on James Joyce's short story The Dead, part of the writer's 1914 collection Dubliners. In the story, a woman is transfixed when she hears a song at a party that transports her back to memories of her first love, a boy who gave his life to be with her. For this 55 minute Barbican performance, we join a female dancer in her bedroom as she relives the powerful emotions of her youth. A projected backdrop of real-time photographic images plays with ideas of memory, reality and connections between moments in time. The Dead forms part of this year's London International Mime Festival and is considered suitable for 14+. There will be a post-show talk on 29 January.
