The Garden: Graeae and Strange FruitPresented by Hoxton based theatre company Graeae and Australian theatre group Strange Fruit, The Garden is an outdoor performance of circus and dance created by three British disabled artists. Part of the Southbank Centre's Unlimited festival which runs in parallel with the Paralympics, The Garden is a gravity-defying piece of outdoor theatre in which artists take to swaying poles to tell magical stories, four metres above the audience, performed on the Riverside Terrace in front of Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. Inspired by the poetry of William Blake, a modern day Garden of Eden is created, with love pitched against those 'dark satanic mills' featured in Blake's famous 1804 poem, Jerusalem.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
