Georgians RevealedCommemorating the 300th anniversary of the House of Hanover and the establishment of a constitutional monarchy, this major British Library exhibition examines the extensive and cultural changes that have occurred in Britain's society since the reigns of George I, II, III and IV. Consumerism and celebrity culture are just two aspects of modern Britain that can be linked back to the Georgian period and, through the use of manuscripts, newspapers, books and printed items, the British Library's Georgian's Revealed exhibition enables visitors to understand the trials and triumphs of the ordinary people who transformed Britain. Among the items on display is a painting of The Royal Pavilion at Brighton, the spectacular seaside palace of the Prince Regent (George IV) transformed by John Nash between 1815 and 1822 into one of the most exotic buildings in the country.

About British Library

With over 150 million items, a copy of every publication produced in the UK and Ireland, artwork by artists such as Antony Gormley and Eduardo Paolozzi, and a host of historically momentous works - including the Magna Carta, the Gutenberg Bible, Shakespeare's First Folio and the Lindisfarne Gospels - a guided tour around the British Library is the best way to take it all in.
