About Wilton's Music Hall
In the nineteenth century, Wilton's Music Hall was a great mirrored hall lit by a vast chandelier, with 27,000 crystals and 300 gas jets. Opera, operetta, variety shows and old-style music hall were played out to raucous cockney audiences of over 2000. Two good Christian women entering Wilton's in 1884 found the environment so diabolical that, it is chronicled "they fell down on their knees... More about Wilton's Music Hall
