Tipped for a transfer to the West End by Telegraph theatre critic Charles Spencer, this stage version of the hugely enjoyable Oscar-winning film, The King's Speech, comes to the Richmond Theatre as part of a nationwide tour. Former RSC chief Adrian Noble directs an outstanding cast with Charles Edwards in the lead role - his performance as the "stammering King should propel him into the top rank of British actors" Spencer writes. Alongside him are Jonathan Hyde, playing Aussie speech therapist Lionel Logue, Emma Fielding and Joss Ackland who all star in David Seidler's original drama telling the story of how King George VI conquered his stammer.

About Richmond Theatre

The Victorian Richmond Theatre, which opened on 18 September 1899 with a performance of As You Like It, is one of the best examples of work by theatrical architect Frank Matcham. The interior is ornate, with lots of gilt detailing and plush fabrics. More about Richmond Theatre
