Joely Richardson stars as Ellida Wangel at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, in Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea, a role formerly played by both her mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and her sister, the late Natasha Richardson. Directed by Stephen Unwin, Richardson plays the young woman who struggles with her step-family and her feelings for a former lover in Henrik Ibsen's 1888 play in which the sea is the central motif from the start. We can expect a high class performance from such acting royalty.
