The LadykillersFather Ted writer Graham Linehan's adaptation of the Ealing film comedy plays The Ladykillers as a hilarious farce. The film's storyline, which pits a sweet old lady against a gang of criminals, is essentially the same in this well put together production directed by Sean Foley. But every opportunity for slapstick comedy has been utilised. Ralf Little (The Royle Family), who is excellent as the pill popping spiv, is often on the receiving end of the rotating blackboard. The cast includes other faces familiar from TV appearances with Simon Day (The Fast Show) and Angela Thorne (To the Manor Born) starring as Mrs Wilberforce alongside Olivier Award winners John Gordon Sinclair and Con O'Neill. John Gordon Sinclair, the Scottish-born actor who first came onto our screens in the 1981 Bill Forsyth film Gregory's Girl, has since established himself as a stage actor of note, winning an Olivier Award for She Loves Me. Sinclair played Leo Bloom in The Producers and now plays the murderous Professor Marcus in The Ladykillers, a role memorably played by Alec Guinness in the classic 1955 film. Buy tickets now to see the Ladykillers at the Vaudeville Theatre.
