Considering his taste for smoking, gambling, port and women, it's hard to believe that Cis Farringdon is still in his teens. And that's because he's not. His mother chopped off five years from her real age and her son when she married The Magistrate, Posket. This Victorian comedy by Arthur Wing Pinero, starring American screen and stage actor John Lithgow, is given a musical revival by Timothy Sheader.

About National Theatre: Olivier Theatre

The largest of the National Theatre's three auditoriums, the Olivier Theatre lends itself to grand spectacles staged by the National. The imposing theatre on the South Bank is the spiritual centre of London's theatreland, and the heart of the British theatrical tradition. More about National Theatre: Olivier Theatre
