Maslenitsa Russian Festival
THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 16TH MARCH 2013
Nearby

Also known as pancake week, Maslenitsa is celebrated every year by Russians all over the world as a way of waving farewell to winter and welcoming in the warmth of spring. A true family occasion, the Trafalgar Square event will see performances of traditional songs and dance, games and competitions, an arts and crafts fair, but best of all, there will be an authentic Russian marketplace where you can gorge on beef stroganoff, beetroot soup and of course, plenty of pancakes. It doesn't matter whether you're Russian or not, everyone is welcome. So raise your glass of vodka and join in with a toast to warmer weather.
About Trafalgar Square
Lord Nelson, Britain's greatest military hero, and the mighty lions that surround him, pay testament to the position of Trafalgar Square at the heart of the capital, the heart of the nation, and, at one time, the heart of an empire that controlled three fifths of the world.
