The Polka's summer blockbuster, The Monster Under the Bed, isn't as scary as it sounds - it'll have you shaking with laughter instead of fear. This is a hilarious comic story about friendship that all children aged six and over will find amusing. First of all we meet Ben. Ben has BIG problems. His Dad is very far away, his former best friend Vince has stolen his precious binoculars and Ben has only one day to get them back. Just to add to his problems there's a monster under his bed who wants to go to school in his place. Written by Kevin Dyer, this new play was first presented as a staged reading in April 2008, at the John F Kennedy Center for Performing Arts as part of New Visions/New Voices. Now it makes a welcome transition to the Polka stage, directed by the theatre's artistic director, Jonathan Lloyd.
