Two back-to-back Conor McPherson dramas play at the Donmar this summer with a two-week break between them. Following a well received production of The Weir, the Irish dramatist is back at the Covent Garden theatre directing a beautifully-acted world premiere of his latest piece, The Night Alive. In the drama, which features two eminent Irish actors, Ciaran Hinds and Jim Norton, whose "performances are the main pleasure of the production" (Evening Standard), Tommy (Hinds) tries to keep his ex-wife and kids from hassling him, going from one get-rich-quick scheme to the next. Aimee (Caoilfhionn Dunne) is also struggling with life having been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. They realise that their pasts won't let go so quickly, but together, they attempt to make life just that little bit better.

About The Donmar Warehouse

Housed in an impressive red-brick industrial building - at various times a brewery, a banana warehouse and a film studio - this tiny repertory theatre is one of the great success stories of the 1990s. Created as a studio space for the RSC in 1977, it became a shabby but popular fringe theatre in the 1980s, a testing ground for producers with big ideas but little money.
