Greek mythology is the flavour of the month with open-air productions of The Adventures of Jason and the Argonauts and Medea on the South Bank and now this wonderfully inventive performance of The Odyssey in Southwark Park. Homer's epic poem tells of the long and eventful journey home of the Greek king Odysseus after the Trojan War and London Bubble Theatre Company does that too, except it actually takes audiences on a journey through the park so they can enter into the adventure themselves. There's some perilous sorcery and mythical beasts along Odysseus's way including shipwrecks, giants and sea monsters but London Bubble is well-versed in the art of conjuring up magical scenes, having tackled Arabian Nights, Alice in Wonderland and A Midsummer Night's Dream in previous shows. It also promises to be fun for all the family so we think they'll curb the more gruesome mutilation in the story! An exciting way for children to discover the wonder of theatre.
